Pallavas exercised their supremacy for nearly 500 years from 5th century to the 9th century . The Aryanisation  of South India was completed during the rule of the Pallavas .  Sanskrit has established its sway and was the language used for all royal epigraphs 

Bharavi the well-known poet of Sanskrit and the author of Kirat Arjunayam is said to have adorned the court of Pallava king Simhavishnu

Dandin the famous author of the standard works on poetics is reported to have flourished in the reign of another Pallava king Narasimha Varman II.

Mahendra Varman I was celebrated author. It is said that he composed an interesting work called as Matta Vilasa Prahasana, a social comedy 

Under the royal patronage Tamil classics also grew under having Aryan influence.

In the realm of religion ,the Saiva and Vaishnava sects of south flourished in the Pallava period. The greatest Saiva saints were contemporaries of the Pallava King Narasimha Varman  

Similarly Vaishnava saints Alvars were liberally patronized by the Pallavas. The songs and hymns of these saints were remarkable for the depth of the devotional feeling and pity 

Consequently the Vaishnava and Saiva literature of the Tamils a noble expression of religious thoughts developed under the Pallavas
